AI Policy

Jurnal Al-Fatih Global Mulia recognises the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning tools in academic research and scholarly publishing. As generative AI technologies become more accessible, the journal emphasises the need for responsible, ethical, and transparent use. This policy sets forth the journal’s official stance for authors, reviewers, and editorial staff, aligned with standards established by Elsevier and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Use of AI Tools by Authors & Mandatory Disclosure

Authors are permitted to use AI tools (such as language refinement, grammar correction, or translation) to assist in preparing their manuscripts, but this must be done responsibly and transparently. However, AI tools must not be used to generate substantive content, conduct scientific reasoning, or interpret data.

Human Authorship: All listed authors must be human. AI tools or bots cannot be credited as authors.

Disclosure: Authors must explicitly disclose the use of AI tools in the Acknowledgements section, detailing the tool's name, version, and specific role (e.g., "The authors used ChatGPT to enhance language readability; all outputs were verified by the authors"). Failure to disclose will be treated as publication misconduct.

2. Author Responsibility and Accountability

Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their submitted work, including any sections assisted by AI. Authors must ensure that AI outputs are free from factual inaccuracies, fabricated citations, or plagiarism. Jurnal Al-Fatih Global Mulia reserves the right to investigate and reject manuscripts suspected of unauthorized or excessive AI generation.

3. Use of AI in Peer Review and Editorial Process

Peer Reviewers: Reviewers must maintain strict confidentiality. They are prohibited from uploading any part of a manuscript to public or external AI platforms, as this breaches author confidentiality and data security. Reviewers must not use AI to generate review reports.

Editorial Staff: The editorial team of Jurnal Al-Fatih may use AI tools solely for administrative support (such as plagiarism screening). All editorial decisions (acceptance, revision, or rejection) are made strictly by qualified human editors.

4. Violations, Ethics, and Consequences

Any violation of this policy—such as misrepresenting AI-generated text as original human work or failing to disclose AI use—will be investigated following COPE guidelines. Consequences include immediate rejection, post-publication retraction, notification of the author's institution, and a temporary ban from future submissions to Jurnal Al-Fatih Global Mulia.
